Project Inform Projects
Project Inform was the name given in Regional Railways days to the project to raise the standards of information given to passengers to new heights. In particular the project sought to create highly automated systems using information available within the railway industry in a customer friendly way so that passengers at stations could be kept informed about the trains expected at the station and whether or not their train was on time.
The project led to the development and implementation of a Local Information Control Centre (LICC) that could control passenger information at a number of stations simultaneously. Information was derived from the planned time table and reports of the movement of trains and presented audibly and visually to passengers.
The list of "Project Inform" passenger information projects that follows have all had involvement from John Lacy. Until 2000 as an internal consultant within the rail industry and subsequently through WycheGnome Limited.
